Alison Wright was born in London, England. She is most famous for her role in the lead role of Martha Hanson on the FX period spy drama series The Americans, for which she received critical acclaim and an Primetime Emmy Award nomination in 2017. She has also acted in The Ryan Murphy limited series Feud: Bette & Joan and Hollywood. Wright was born the 12th of July, 1976, in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, where she was raised by adoptive parents. She began dancing and acting at a young age. She attended New York City's Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute as well as The Barrow Group. Her waitressing job was interrupted by auditions for various roles. Scuba diving was one of her hobbies as a major hobby of hers when she suffered a cardiac incident at sea, which put her in a in a coma.
